When I got to East Towne Zales (cold store, the lady in there would wipe down every glass surface even if we pointed at it..that was rude!!), and explained my story to them, they looked at the ring frowning asking me why the gold color was fading (duh! I have the same question!). After waiting for a while and having my finger measured for resizing (I agreed to pay for the price of the resize out of pocket). They returned the ring and said they couldn't help me because the ring isn't gold! I inquired why it had 14k engraved inside giving me the impression that it's gold. She said she didn't know and right away turned to help the next customer totally ignoring me!
My husband bought me a 14k gold and diamond ring from the Johnson Creek Premium Outlet mall for our anniversary. He measured it on his finger because it was supposed to be a surprise. When I finally got the ring, it was too large for all 10 of my fingers. Since we live far from the store he bought it from, I tried to get it resized at Kays. After about a week, Kays returned the ring saying they couldn't resize it because the ring was not gold (it was gold plated)! A few months later, my husband and his friend were going back to the mall at Johnson Creek so I asked him to take the ring with him and ask them to resize it and by this time, the barely worn ring was fading (the gold was rubbing off and there were patches of silver colors). I asked him to check with them to see if the ring was actual gold because it had 14k engraved inside and the color was fading.They said they couldn't help him without a receipt! When he came home with the news, I called the store and had them look him up by phone number and they found him. The lady on the phone was apologetic and asked me to go into their store that was closer to us (the one in East Towne mall) to get help.

Now, I have a ring that I cannot wear that is half gold half silver with no explanation as to why it is fading and/or why it has 14k engraved inside or anything!
